We are Open!

Finally, we are open! And we can’t wait to welcome you to Llanrwst. The sun has been shining all week here in the Conwy Valley and our first guests have been exploring some of the awesome bike routes that Snowdonia has to offer.

With things gradually opening up, it is great to see people enjoying the wilderness once again. We have been for some amazing rides recently including sunrise/sunset climbs and descents of Snowdon, laps of Llyn Crafnant and Llyn Geirionydd, spins up and down the Conwy Valley and cruising around the Gwydir bike trails.

I thought I’d share some of our favourite places to include on a cycle route. And with some of them being at the top of some rather steep hills…….renting one of our E-bikes is going to make those hills a delight.

So, here are some places that I reckon are worth including:

  1. Snowdonia Bikes - well you need a bike don’t you? We have a fleet of hardtail all-terrain e-bikes that go well on roads and forest trails alike. Rent for a few hours, a day and drop off to your accommodation can also be arranged.

  2. Caffi Ffika - we are lucky to be neighbours with a brilliant cafe that is a popular spot for local cyclists…..not least for their top-notch coffee. They serve up great meals, cake and drinks which can be enjoyed on their sun-soaked balcony. A coffee to get you going or an after-ride snack…..they’ve definitely got you covered.

  3. Llyn Crafnant - The lake is a great place for a mid-ride stop as the scenery is spectacular, a particularly great spot being at the North tip of the lake on a small pebble beach. The lake lies where Gwydir forest meets the lower slopes of the Carneddau - home to the famous Carneddau ponies whose history dates back to the Bronze Age!

  4. Llyn Geirionydd - The road running alongside the lake provides one of the most beautiful sections of cycling around. If you fancy taking in the views for a bit longer then stop at the picnic site here and set up shop. The E-bikes eliminate any need to ice bath those legs but if you’re into that thing then why not take your trunks. That being said, it’s a lovely place for a dip in the summer months.

  5. Betws-y-Coed - This lovely town can be incorporated into a huge amount of routes and it a lovely place to grab a snack or rest those legs. The river running through the town cascades over rocks underneath the central Waterloo Bridge. Betws is home to a wide range of outdoor adventure shops so if you fancy some browsing then it’s a good place to stop off in the car on the way to Llanrwst.

  6. Llynau Mymbyr - This famous spot is one of the best views in Snowdonia (accessible by bike) and for good reason. The two lakes provide the foreground for a breathtaking view of Snowdon, Crib Goch, Y Lliwedd and Carnedd Ugain. Get there on a sunny, calm day and you’ll see double of everything with the lake providing a magical reflection of the Snowdon Massif.

There are so many more great spots in Conwy and Snowdonia and it seems that new places to eat, drink and have fun are popping up all the time! I’m biased but I do think the best way to explore is on a bike…..so come and rent one and!
